For advanced healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies.


ACLS is designed for advanced healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
Prerequisite: The student must be an advanced healthcare provider, i.e. nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, etc.
Continuing Education Hours: This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 9.75 Advanced Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) for the initial classroom course (activity number 16-AMHA-F2-0309) and 5.25 Advanced CEHs for the renewal classroom course, (activity number 14-AMHA-F2-0224).
**CAPCE credit must be claimed within 6 months of participation. CEH/CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after the 6-month claiming period.**

An alternative to classroom-based ACLS training, HeartCode™ ACLS is a self-paced, comprehensive eLearning course. The course includes interactive patient cases that test students’ ability to apply the ACLS algorithms to effect treatment. The full course combines the web-based lessons with advanced CPR skills training.
