For advanced healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children
The PALS Course is for advanced healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Prerequisite: The student must be an advanced healthcare provider, i.e. nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, etc.
Continuing Education Hours: This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 12.75 Advanced Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) for the initial classroom course (activity number 16-AMHA-F2-0338) and 7.00 Advanced CEHs for the renewal classroom course (activity number 16-AMHA-F2-0337).
**CAPCE credit must be claimed within 6 months of attendance. CEH/CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after the 6 month claiming period.**

HeartCode® PALS Part 1 is a web-based, self-directed program that teaches healthcare providers knowledge and skills needed to recognize and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children.
This program uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning about pediatric advanced life support.
Continuing Education Hours: This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 5.75 Advanced Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) for the initial online course, (activity number 17-AMHA-F3-0346). A renewal online course option is not available at this time.

The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course completion and certification card is valid for two years.
